After having to withdraw from the PGA Championship after he thought he tore the labrum in his shoulder. Learning it was a sprain and rehabbed his shoulder, Daly came out screaming at the Wyndham Championship.

Another reason Daly finished 11 under was due to his Bertanardi Putter he received 2 weeks ago. Daly told his fans on his twitter page, “… nice to have a good finish.”

John Daly will return to Australia in December for the third consecutive year to contest the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola.

The PGA of Australia has today confirmed that John Daly will return to Queensland in December to contest the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola from December 9 – 12, 2010.

Daly said over the weekend that he will play Australia’s oldest professional event at the Hyatt Regency Coolum, where he has previously helped generate record crowds with fans coming from far and wide to see one of the biggest characters in world golf.

“I really love coming to Australia,” Daly said today.

“The Coolum course is great, the fans love their golf and I hope I can come back this year and really put in a good performance.”

Max Garske, the Chief Executive Officer of the PGA of Australia, said John is always welcome to play in Australia and is looking forward to seeing him back on the Sunshine Coast.

“We are very grateful for the support John has given the PGA Tour of Australasia particularly in the past three years,” Garske said.

“Last year John was forced to withdraw due to injury, but having recovered quicker than expected he contacted us and said to put him back in the field. To have that kind of support from a two-time major winner is great for our Tour and it will be good to see him back at Coolum this year.”

‘Long’ John Daly won the US PGA Championship in 1991 and the British Open in 1995 and remains one of the world’s most popular players.

Queensland Premier Ms Anna Bligh said Daly was a great ambassador during the 2009 Championship, when he frequently Tweeted about the beautiful environment, weather and great atmosphere at Coolum.

“As Mr Daly discovered last year, this is a great event for both spectators and players and their families, and certainly one of the premier events on the Sunshine Coast,” Ms Bligh said.

The 2010 Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola will be played at the Hyatt Regency Coolum on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast from December 9-12, 2010.

The event will be the final event on both the PGA Tour of Australasia and OneAsia Order of Merit, with players competing for a total prize pool of AUD$1,500,000.

The burgeoning OneAsia will have staged 11 tournaments with a total of more than US$12 million in prize money paid out at the end of the season.

The week’s event will be showcased on OneAsia’s television platform with live coverage for four hours a day across all four tournament days, and broadcast to over 260 million homes in more than 40 countries.

Full coverage of the event will be available domestically on Network Ten, as well as internationally on ESPN Star Sports, Jupiter Golf Network, SBS Golf Channel, Fox International, Sky Sports NZ, ESPN3 & America One in the USA, ViaSat & Bloomberg Television among others in Europe.

Daly is autographing merchandise and has songs from his CD blaring on speakers. It’s not the first time Daly has set up shop at the Masters. He first did it in 2007, hanging out at the local Hooters signing autographs.

Hopefully one of these years we will see The Lion qualify to play in the Masters. His last appearance was in 2006 when he missed the cut. That was also the last time he held his PGA Tour card. For now, though, he’ll be the guy peddling his wares in front of a huge RV.

These are just a few things John Daly posted on his Twitter account and Facebook about his comment of quitting golf. After failing to make the cut at Torrey Pine ( Farmers Insurance Open), John made a comment to the Golf Channel producer he was quitting golf.

I don’t see John leaving the game he loves. With the injury at the Honda Classic in 2007 and his rapid weight loss, his body is having a tough time adjusting to the demand of the game.

John will be back and we believe you will find him at the AT&T Pebble Beach tournament, February 8-14th.

Many people, both inside and outside the gallery ropes, have weighed in on the Tiger Woods situation.

Some have been somewhat supportive of Tiger, others have condemned him and others want to merely change the subject. The gamut of opinions has been interesting, but one person’s I’ve found most compelling is that of John Daly.

We don’t have to review Daly’s life of hard times on and off the PGA tour. He was suspended once for conduct unbecoming of a PGA member, he’s been married four times with one of his wives spending time in prison for a federal offense.

He once played in pro-am without a shirt and hit tee shots off the top of a beer can during an exhibition. On another occasion, he finished a practice round in his bare feet after he gave a fan his golf shoes while walking up the 18th fairway.

Tiger was one of many who criticized Daly for this kind of behavior. Yet, when Daly was presented with a free shot to take a swipe at Tiger, he refused. Instead, he was supportive, saying the PGA tour needs Tiger more than Tiger needs the tour.

Daly hoped Tiger would get his personal life in order; that saving his marriage was more important than golf at this point and that he hoped Tiger and wife, Elin, would stay together not because of their children or monetary benefits but that they stay together because they loved each other.

Daly even said he tried to reach Tiger to offer him some help, if he wanted help from a guy who understood more than anyone what it meant to be under the microscope.

If anyone would feel the need to gloat over Tiger’s difficult times, it would be Daly. Yet, he felt compelled to take the high road.

Which is another reason to root for Daly.

According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), an estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed among women in the United States last year. The ACS also reports that an estimated 40,610 breast cancer deaths are expected in 2009 (40,170 women, 440 men).
