by Randy on June 30, 2009

Do you want to be a hero without cooking yourself ragged this 4th of July? How about serving up gourmet, 3 down, fall-off-the-bone johndalybbqribstender,  BBQ ribs instead of grocery store bought, where’s the meat ribs?

Good news! Our 4th of July special is in full swing. All John Daly BBQ products are on sale. Also, with your order, you get a free 16 oz. jar of John’s favorite “Don’t you have a bigger bowl?” salsa.

The 4th of July special ends tomorrow.

By the way, we added a Specials page. Look for the tab at the top. You never know what holiday we’ll celebrate next!

As John Daly BBQ progresses, we’ve noticed a number of international visitors and mentions in publications.

Recently, Dan Christy began conversing with Rome, Italy resident and golfing enthusiast, Pierluigi Calabretta via Facebook.

Also, Pierre loves great food. He sent us his recipe for panzanella, a favorite summer salad recipe:

Hi Dan! First one is called PANZANELLA, and it’s simple but great in hot summer days!

INGREDIENTS for 2 people:

Stale bread (about 4 slices), two tomatoes, one half onion, one cucumber, two teaspoons vinegar, five chopped basil leaves (fresh, if possible!), one table spoon oil, salt and pepper.

RECIPE:
Fill a bowl with cold water. Then with your hands soak the bread. This is the very important moment for a good panzanella! Don’t leave the bread for too long in the water.

When it starts to soften after about thirty seconds, take it out. Break the soaked bread into peaces and mix with the chopped vegetables and all the other ingredients.

Make it rest for at least one hour, but I like it when it is prepared the day before.

Possible add-ons: garlic, balsamic vinegar and other vegetables.
Use of good extra virgin oil is VERY important.

Ciao!

Pierluigi Calabretta

Flush with excitement and almost giddy, Russ Christy, our CFO, sent out the word, “In appreciation of my father, Dan Christy, I’m reducing his profit 10% for a Father’s Day sale! I want kids everywhere to say thanks to their Dad with a slab of John Daly BBQ ribs.”

Not so good for Dan, but great for our readers.

Follow this link to John Daly BBQ. Sale lasts until Wednesday, 6-17-09, 2 p.m. Central Daylight time.

Nothing like a cool spoonful of potato salad on a hot summer day. potato

Easy to make before the cookout, you can store  potato salad in the refrigerator and let flavor seep into the potatoes.

Everyone has a favorite potato salad style whether it’s a southern mustard style or a hot German style. Occasionally, it’s nice to try a different recipe or style.

Here’s a few potato salad recipes from famous types:

Rachael Ray’s Potato Salad

Patti LaBelle’s Potato Salad

Rosanne Cash’s Potato Salad

Phyllis Diller’s Potato Salad

Bill Cosby’s Potato Salad

Julia Child’s Potato Salad

Mr. Ed’s Potato Salad (not the horse, silly…a horse can’t can’t make potato salad).

Watch over the next few days for more potato salad resources.
